"Jim", was one of the finest men I have ever met in my lifetime. As a former member of the Kanawha County Sheriff Dept, Corrections Div.,on my first day of work, I got the pleasure of riding with Jim in his patrol car. In that one short day, he gave me so much insight and help, in becoming the best officer possible for the department. May God now hold Jim in his ever loving arms, and take away all the pain and misery. Father and Son, are now reunited.

To the family,
I am the son of Gary and Jewell Jernell, and I want to say that I offer my most sincere and heartfelt condolences to your entire family. I too share some of the heartache, as I can remember 'String' puttin me on his shoulders, about the age 2-4 years old, I always gave him credit for my lack of fear of hieghts, because of that. I always loved running into String, he always greeted me with a smile and a handshake, and then kid me with, " Boy, you got your mother's good looks, your dad's hieght, but I cannot figure on where you got your size from?", meaning my broad shoulders, big chest , and huge arms, he'd always say, "beats me"?, and laugh and shake his head, as if exhausted from pondering on it.
Now, at the age of 38. and as far as I can remember he has always been, and continue to be a very close friend to my family.
He will be sorely missed, by a whole lot of people, but he is in Heaven now with GOD and securing Heaven's perimeter !!
Rest In Peace, my friend !!
All our love and prayers,
Brent, Laura and Jacob Jernell
